Software - INCINERATION TECHNOLOGY


Incineration system computer programs are available for calculating incinerator system parameters including chamber temperature, fuel usage, air and gas flows. They also calculate design and operating parameters for equipment associated with incinerators including an afterburner, waste heat boiler, and a variety of scrubber systems. These programs are based on the techniques developed in the incinerator textbooks written by C. R. Brunner including INCINERATION SYSTEMS HANDBOOK and MEDICAL WASTE DISPOSAL, both published by INCINERATOR CONSULTANTS INCORPORATED in 1996.


PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

ICI01 - INCINERATOR SYSTEM HEAT BALANCE PROGRAM PACKAGE

Generic incineration process. Inputs feed, desired temperature, excess air, radiation. Outputs include actual temperature, fuel, air, discharge oxygen, feed volatiles, gas flow analysis. Waste heat boiler with a feedwater heater. Inputs steam, feedwater temperature, condensate return. Outputs include steam, feedwater, gas flow and blowdown. Venturi scrubber discharging into a cooling tower through an ID fan. Inputs outlet temperature, ID fan delta p. Outputs include adiabatic temperature, water flows, ID fan horsepower, stack gas flow. Four feed streams. Inputs flow, moisture, ash, heating value, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur fractions.

ICI02 - ADVANCED INCINERATOR SYSTEM HEAT BALANCE PROGRAM PACKAGE

Generic incineration process: Inputs feed, desired temperature, excess air, radiation. Outputs include actual temperature, fuel, air, discharge oxygen, feed volatiles, gas flow analysis. Fired afterburner: Inputs temperature. Outputs fuel, retention time, gas flow. Waste heat boiler with a feedwater heater: Similar to ICI01. Venturi/Baghouse/ESP/Cooler: Inputs outlet temperature, ID fan delta p. Outputs include adiabatic temperature, water flows, air flow, ID fan horsepower, stack gas flow. Four feed streams: Similar to ICI01 including chlorine. Data from previous runs are saved for recall.

ICI03 - INCINERATOR SYSTEM METRICATED HEAT BALANCE PROGRAM PACKAGE

Similar to ICI02, in metric units.

ICI04 - ROTARY KILN INCINERATOR SYSTEM HEAT BALANCE PROGRAM PACKAGE

Rotary kiln incineration process: Inputs primary and secondary feeds, desired temperature, excess air, assumed geometry. Outputs include actual temperature, fuel, air, discharge oxygen, feed volatiles, gas flow analysis, maximum feed, residence time. Fired afterburner: Inputs temperature. Outputs fuel, retention time, gas flow. Waste heat boiler with a feedwater heater: Similar to ICI01. Venturi/Baghouse/ESP/Cooler: Inputs outlet temperature, ID fan delta p. Outputs include adiabatic temperature, water flows, air flow, ID fan horsepower, stack gas flow. Data from previous runs are saved for recall.

ICI05 - FLUID BED INCINERATOR SYSTEM HEAT BALANCE PROGRAM PACKAGE

Fluid bed process: Inputs feed, desired temperature, excess air, radiation. Outputs include actual temperature, fuel, air, discharge oxygen, feed volatiles, gas flow. Fired afterburner. Inputs temperature. Outputs fuel, retention time, gas flow. Waste heat boiler with a feedwater heater. Similar to ICI01. Venturi/Baghouse/ESP/Cooler: Inputs outlet temperature, ID fan delta p. Outputs include adiabatic temperature, water flows, air flow, ID fan horsepower, stack gas flow. Four feed streams: Similar to ICI01 including chlorine. Data from previous runs are saved for recall.

ICI06 - MODULAR STARVED AIR/EXCESS AIR INCINERATION SYSTEM PROGRAM PACKAGE

Determines if starved air operation is possible: Inputs feed, desired temperature, excess air, radiation. Outputs include actual temperature, fuel, air, discharge oxygen, feed volatiles, gas flow, FD fan. Fired afterburner: Inputs temperature. Outputs fuel, retention time, gas flow. Waste heat boiler with a feedwater heater: Similar to ICI01. Venturi/Baghouse/ESP/Cooler: Inputs outlet temperature, ID fan delta p. Outputs include adiabatic temperature, water flows, air flow, ID fan horsepower, stack gas flow. Feed streams: Direct insertion of waste types (Type 0, Type 1, etc.), or unique waste constituents, including chlorine. Data from previous runs are saved for recall.

ICI07 - ROTARY KILN INCINERATION SYSTEM, METRIC UNITS PROGRAM PACKAGE

Similar to ICI04, in metric units.



These programs are completely self contained, for IBM/PC, and can be run on their own disk or transferred to a hard disk. They are all menu driven and include defaults and data checking features. Programs have been field tested and verified on actual systems and equipment. A comprehensive users manual is included as well as on-line technical support from ICI.

Calvin R. Brunner, P.E., DEE, is President of ICI, with over 25 years experience in the design and operation of all types of incineration systems. A registered, graduate mechanical engineer, he has written these and ten other textbooks on incineration technology as well as dozens of technical articles on the subject.
